A solar water heating system consists of a solar panel (installed facing the sun), geyser, circulation pump and system controller. The system reduces the cost of electricity used to heat your water, by up 80% annually. In overcast weather conditions the geyser element will still operate automatically, allowing you to always have hot water when needed, at the desired temperature. An average high pressure pumped system for residential homes could cost from as low as R8500 to R22000 installed for system sizes of 150litre to 300litres respectively after Eskom rebates where applicable, all of which maintain a 2-3 year or 35% return on investment.
